shadows at night tony scarpa april 28, 2018
i sing to you O' Whitman's song
of empty shadows
and song less songs
days to night
and back again
the cycle spins
its glistening web
my step tread
light on mossy glens
to follow beams
hearts true love
moon light bathes
her sister earth
is it night?
or is it day?
where upon the ground
my shadow falls
upon the rock
upon the tree
that silhouette
for only my eyes to see
to slip into the night
alone
to hear the sounds
so deafening to the ear
creatures alive and alert from your light
they scatter and flee
from steps placed so cautiously
through boughs as mighty
or slight
beyond light shimmers open clearing full of your gift to earth
sensual moon you sacred orb
as i enter the glade
i feel your light upon my skin
where none should feel
i look up to you and ask
take me as your lover
embrace me in light
make me feel the fullness of your love
your gentle kisses as swirls of air
cover me like goosebumps
your glow as feathers slight my skin
longing grows and throbs
as my body aches with desire
caress me, take me, love me
every naked inch exposed to no one but you
for i am yours so completely, truly, deeply
as the swimmer dives into the deep cool sea
i long to dive into your light
oh moon your seductive touch upon my body
the coolness of your touch enflames
my breath so quick, my chest heaves
with passion i can no longer resist
from my bed of ferns my mind and body explode as one
the ache of love so powerful
i tremble until spent
i look up to you my lover above me
covering me
sheltering me in your light
my chest slowly eases with each breath to fill the dark of night
light too beautiful
yet far too bright
i awaken cold as dew glistens
upon
the living earth
as daylight dares to expose all
gone from my sight my love
my dream of a lover so passionate and true
were you a dream?
were you?
a dream!
